New Media
The Fontayne Group specializes in travel, tourism and transportation
in large part because of a strong belief in tourism as a creator of economic, education, societal and cultural benefits to countries and communities around the world. Our leading-edge involvement in convergent and connectivity technologies is a natural and powerful complement to our work. TFG was far ahead of the pack when it computerized in its first year (1982)
and built integrated data and word processing systems long before
the advent of low-cost, off-the-shelf applications. TFG again has
been setting the pace for travel marketing communications with its involvement in interactive and connective media. TFG has been using modems and electronic data transfers for more than a decade, so we were early adopters of Internet and Web resources. TFG’s study of convergent technologies, hypermedia and on-line environments, and their applications to marketing communications has developed into a subsidiary practice, which has grown beyond our traditional tourism-related engagements.
TFG now offers clients a full range of consultation and implementation for managing a presence in cyberspace, including training, strategies, research, outreach, electronic mail systems, news monitoring, development/editing of news materials for electronic distribution and to fit non-commercial Internet protocols, assessment of advertising and promotional opportunities, creation and placement of in-line advertising, etc. The goal is to help clients comprehend and capitalize on the many opportunities which the new technologies represent, and to avoid costly pitfalls. TFG has handled the launch a number of high profile web sites, (e.g. the Hong Kong Tourist Association's Wonder Net, Destination Florida, Hotel and Travel Index Online), and has helped other sites improve their traffic and awareness levels (e.g. Travel Weekly Online, Costa Rica Expeditions, FuturesWeb).
